Perfect start – The EMPRC started a successful first round
After two days of nearly 40 expert lectures, the EMPRC European Mineral Processing and Recycling Congress ended on 26 June in the metropolitan city of Essen.
More than 70 participants from Belgium, Brazil, China, Italy, Austria, the United States and Germany came together for an extensive exchange of experiences at the ATLANTIC Congress Hotel. The EMPRC is currently the only European congress with a focus on all areas of raw material processing, primary as well as secondary.
The consistently positive feedback from the participants was mainly directed at the diverse lecture programme which included topics from the characterisation of raw materials to fragmentation, classification and sorting as well as drainage, process water treatment and process simulation. Views on environmental influences as well as social and political acceptance were also addressed. Praise was also given for the great possibilities for dialogue between the scientific sector and the industry. One half of the participants were representatives from the industry, whereas the other half comprised representatives from research institutes and facilities.
The science committee led by Professor Tobias Elwert and the organisation committee led by GDMB general manager Jürgen Zuchowski, therefore, agree that the congress will go into round two in summer 2020. Next time, the group of participants should be extended and become even more international and the accompanying exhibition should not only feature the current ways of advertising in the form of brochure racks and banners but also exhibition booths.
An elaborate report on this year's congress is intended to be published in the journal World of Metallurgy – ERZMETALL.
The Save the Date for the EMPRC 2020 will be announced shortly.
