Chairman of committee: Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Neu
proG.E.O. Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH
E-mail to expert committee:
The expert committee on geothermal energy was founded at the end of 2008 in order to do justice to the increasing significance of this form of energy. So far, the committee meetings have focussed on the use of warm water from former mines as well as on deep geothermal energy, i.e. the collection of ground heat by means of borehole mining.
The regular meetings are usually attended by 20 to 30 participants, originating from project developers and operators, universities, engineering companies, service providers, suppliers as well as authorities in order to educate themselves further or to discuss the latest developments. Some of the lectures have been published in the journal Word of Mining - Surface & Underground and the Springer handbook “TIEFE GEOTHERMIE” (English: “deep geothermal energy”).
It is the objective of this expert committee to further develop this trendsetting form of energy and to make it accessible to a wider circle of interested experts of various backgrounds. With the work of independent experts, the committee in particular wants to help overcome prejudices, improve public acceptance, continuously improve the state of knowledge, and make it generally comprehensible.
This is meant to pave the way for more geothermal energy projects and in addition to hydrothermal projects, which by now are state of the art, also carry out more sophisticated petrothermal projects.
A closer cooperation with the Geothermische Vereinigung e.V. is also being pursued.
The Chairman of the expert committee and the GDMB hope to receive the attention of numerous interested members and guests.
The next meeting of the Geothermal Energy Expert Committee will take place on June, 26th and 27th, 2019 in Bochum.
